電池やセンサなどのデバイスの小型化・高機能化に資するために、電気化学の知識や計測手法を用いて既存の界面反応の問題点を解析・解決するとともに、金属ナノ粒子・高分子・生体分子を用いて新しい電気化学界面の設計・作製を行っています。具体的には、燃料電池の性能劣化機構の解析、新しい電解質“イオン液体”の応用展開、ナノ多孔質電極の特性、電気化学的なレアメタルSeの回収方法の開発などに取り組んでいます。
