廃棄物処理システムやバイオマス利活用システム、地域開発に伴う地域への影響を、環境面・経済面・社会面から評価する手法の開発、持続可能な地域の実現に向けた研究を行っています。また、ライフサイクルアセスメント（LCA）の手法を用いた製品・システム・サービスの環境影響評価や環境適合設計について研究しており、低炭素社会の実現に向けた政策的・技術的誘導の研究にも取り組んでいます。
