先端産業に不可欠なレアメタルは、近年、需要が増大していますが、枯渇化の恐れがあるにもかかわらず、廃棄されているのが実情です。本研究室では、安価な生物活性を活用して、廃棄物中から金属を浄化・回収・資源化する技術を開発しています。また、プロバイオティクスは、現代社会の重篤な問題であるアレルギー症状を緩和する作用があり、その緩和に有効なサイトカイン高誘導能を有する乳酸菌を、分子レベル、遺伝子レベルで解析し、応用することも目指しています。
