For Social Contributions to the World Sustainability In recent years, Dr. Minami has devoted himself in the research of the development of the longer life housing and the sustainability of building and city. He has been a member of the national research committee to develop the design method and guidelines for longer life housing and published papers such as “The New Japanese Housing Policy and Research and Development to Promote the Longer Life of Housing” presented at the CIB conference. From April 2010, Dr. Minami has been chairing a research committee at the Architectural Institute of Japan to study how to improve the present laws concerning architecture and city planning to establish the sustainable society in the future. He is also working for the national committee to recognize the industrialized housing in Japan.
