Laboratory Overview
Clinical knowledge and skills. Thinking and Designing at the site where people live
When we try to design a comfortable and easy-to-live space of residence, just trying out a plan in our head does not work well. Instead, we will go to places where ordinary people live and conduct research to learn about the architecture, how to use it, and how the relationship among architecture, human, and ecology. We will try to get lots of hints as we live and spend the time together with people. We call it field work. It is the characteristic of our laboratory to write academic articles and to design based on this fieldwork world wide.
Laboratory Character We will conduct fieldwork based research on domestic and foreign rural areas, mountain villages, fishing villages, mega cities and slums. Fully utilizing ingenuity and the five senses, we research for people's better living, residential environment, whereabouts of our children, and how to use traditional houses as cultural heritages and resources.

For Social Contributions to the World Sustainability We can give useful information to housing planning and how to activate community. For example, in a city where strangers gather in high density and live together, we can provide hints on how to live peacefully without fighting.
