Laboratory Overview | Bioelectronics
I have researched the analytical chemistry with the utilization and imitation of biofunctionality, e.g., development of biosensors, biochips, and biomimetic analytical systems. Based on the previous results, I would like to develop the novel analytically chemical methods for the solution of medical, environmental, and energy problems and contributes the development of sustainable society. |

Laboratory Character | A biosensor, typically analytical method with biofunctionality, is a device that converts information on the concentration of chemical or biochemical substances into a quantifiable electronic signal. The typical structure of a biosensor is an integrated product utilizing biological components and transducers. The performance of the biosensor often depends on how well the biological components are combined to the transducers. This technique is also referred to as “immobilization of biological components” or “interfacial design”. The roles and advantages of plasma-polymerized films in biochip design are highlighted. The main results of our research activity are that (a) plasma-polymerized films play an important role in the control and manipulation of biological components on the spatial region (patterning formation) of biochip surfaces while retaining their activity, and (b) dry-process-based plasma-polymerized films are compatible and continuous with whole biochip processes. The example results are micro-needle biosensor, Bio-mechanical electric system (BioMEMS), DNA chip , Protein chip, and Electrophoresis chip. | ||||||||||
