Laboratory Overview
Understand the essence of life phenomena through research!
Japanese people eat natto from the usual. This natto contains a lot of vitamin K. The details of how vitamin K is used in vivo so far have not been clarified. Our laboratory is conducting analysis of the in vivo metabolic mechanism of lipid soluble vitamins, mainly vitamin K, by using molecular biological methods. We also evaluate the role of fat-soluble vitamins on age-related diseases such as osteoporosis and Alzheimer's disease.
Laboratory Character Research on vitamins is one of the leading Japanese studies. Vitamins exhibit a very small amount and strong physiological activity, indispensable to living bodies. Our laboratory focuses on lipid-soluble vitamins and searches for unknown effects of vitamins and conducts drug discovery research using vitamin skeletons.
