Laboratory Overview
Processing and applications of high functional materials
We work on processing and applications of superconducting materials, in particular with focus placed on high temperature superconductors like RE-Ba-Cu-O (RE: rare earth elements) , MgB2, and Fe based superconductors. Applications include superconducting magnets, magnetic levitation, magnetic resonanace imaging.
Laboratory Character Discovery of high temperature superconducting materials was epoch making, since they can be used at relatively high temperatures above the boiling point of liquid nitrogen (77K). However, their applications depend on how good materials can be made on engineering scale. We work on processing of practical and engineering available high temperature superconductors.
